Governing the Record: How Falorin Journal Works

Falorin Journal operates under a set of editorial principles that govern how articles are selected, written, reviewed, and published. These principles are set out here in full.

The Founding Principles

Falorin Journal operates under the following editorial principles: articles are reviewed by at least one second editor before publication, sources are cited where appropriate, corrections are noted publicly, and writers disclose any commercial relationships that could influence their selection of subject matter.

Falorin Journal is an independent editorial publication focused on everyday nutrition practices and weight awareness. The publication is not affiliated with any commercial, governmental, or institutional body.

Content published by Falorin Journal is selected based on published nutritional research and reviewed for editorial accuracy by a second editor before publication. The journal does not publish content that cannot be grounded in the observed record of food and eating practice.

The Editorial Process
01
Subject Selection

Article subjects are drawn from the journal's core themes: everyday nutrition practices, weight awareness, seasonal eating, food journalling, and the relationship between movement and diet. Subjects are assessed for editorial relevance and grounded in the journal's observation-led approach.

02
Research and Sourcing

Writers draw on published nutritional research, food journal records, and observed dietary patterns. Sources are identified before drafting begins. Where peer-reviewed literature is available and relevant, it is cited. The journal does not publish claims that cannot be attributed to a credible source or observed record.

03
Editorial Review

Each article is reviewed by at least one second editor before publication. The review process checks for factual accuracy, editorial tone, vocabulary alignment with the journal's standards, and source attribution. No article is published on the day it is submitted for review.

04
Publication and Correction

Published articles carry a publication date and author attribution. Corrections, where required, are appended to the original article with a correction notice. Corrections are not removed from the record — they are added to it, transparently.

Source Standards

What the Journal Accepts as Evidence

Falorin Journal distinguishes between three categories of source material: observed dietary records (food journals and field notes maintained by the writers), published nutritional research (peer-reviewed literature from established nutrition journals), and documented public data (governmental dietary guidelines, public health statistics from verified sources).

Articles that draw on observed records are clearly framed as observational — they report what was seen in a particular set of journals, not what is universally the case. Articles that draw on published research cite their sources. The two categories are not mixed without explicit acknowledgment.

The journal does not publish content based on anecdotal social media sources, unattributed wellness claims, or commercial material from producers of food supplements or specialist dietary products. Writers disclose any commercial relationship that could influence their subject selection.

Accuracy Policy

When the Record Needs to Change

If a factual error is identified in a published article — by a reader, a writer, or the editorial review — the correction procedure is as follows: the error is verified, a correction notice is drafted, and the notice is appended to the original article at the earliest available opportunity.

The original text is not silently edited. Corrections are transparent additions to the record, not retrospective revisions. The publication date of the article does not change; the date of the correction is noted separately.

Readers who identify what they believe to be a factual error in a Falorin Journal article are encouraged to write to the editorial office at [email protected]. All such correspondence is reviewed by the founding editor.

Scope and Limits
Not a Wellness Service

Falorin Journal does not offer personal consultations, individual food plans, personalised dietary guidance, or any form of one-to-one engagement with readers on their individual eating practices. It is a publication — not a service.

Not a Substitute for Professional Advice

Articles published by Falorin Journal are editorial in nature. They are not intended as professional advice, nor as guidance for the management of any specific condition. We recommend speaking with a qualified wellness or nutrition professional before introducing any new habit or routine to your daily life.

Not a Commercial Platform

The journal does not carry advertising, sponsored content, affiliate links, or any commercially motivated article placements. Where a writer has a commercial relationship relevant to their subject, this is disclosed. The journal's editorial independence is its founding condition.
